Challenging Winds Make Sailors Wait On Shore At The 2010 Rolex Miami OCR

The erratic weather and forecast of a thunderstorm made sailors from 11 classes wait on shore on the third day of the 2010 Rolex Miami OCR. The lucky classes that made it to the waters on Tuesday morning were the 49er (Men’s Two Person Dinghy) and the Elliot 6m (Women’s Match Racing). The 49er and the Elliot 6m were allowed to race as these were the only two classes that would sail close enough to the beach and could be called to shore faster and in time for the storm threat. The Star Men’s Keelboat course was not lucky enough to get the opportunity to sail, as it was three miles farther than the range that was considered safe. Although being on schedule for the regatta is always a priority for Rolex sponsored events; however, the safety of the participating sports persons surpasses all.

By mid to late afternoon, the [...] Read More at Melrose Jewelers.
