The duo of veteran Max Angelelli and rookie co-driver Ricky Taylor, recorded their first Grand-AM Rolex Sports Car victory at Monday’s Memorial Day Classic, at Lime Rock Park at Lakeville, Conn. The couple successfully navigated the tricky seven-turn road circuit to give the seasoned pro his 15th career Roles Series victory.
The racers found the competition tough because of the tortuous seven turn layouts, but also because of the heat sapping temperature, that made racing all the more difficult. The duo successfully negotiated the seven turn layout and the slower GT cars to advance through the pack on three separate occasions. The Sun Trust car maintained the pole position for 95 laps out of the 175 laps, thanks mainly to their rock solid strategy.
