Vic Elford has been appointed the Grand Marshal for the 48th anniversary of the Rolex 24 At Daytona. The winner of the 1968 Rolex 24 At Daytona will kick off the event that marks the beginning of the international motrosports calendar. Vic Elford has been one of Britain’s most versatile drivers in racing history. As the Grand Marshal, Vic Elford would have the pleasure to command the drivers, “Drivers, start your engines”. The acting Grand Marshal for the 2010 season would definitely go down memory lane as he commands the beginning of the event. Vic Elford won the overall title at the endurance race in 1968 in the Porsche 907, which also marked the first of Porsche’s 21 overall victories at the twice-round-the-clock event. Vic Elford was accompanied behind the wheel by the Germans Jochen Neerpasch and Rolf Stommelen as well as Switzerland’s Jo Siffert.
